sevdesk welcomes new CTO – a tech strategist with an entrepreneurial spirit
Markus Aeugle joins the software company as its new CTO
Offenburg, 4 August 2022. sevdesk has made a strategic appointment as of 1 August 2022: Markus Aeugle has come on board as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for its C-level. The software entrepreneur will make a decisive contribution to product development with his technological expertise. With over 25 years of international professional experience in developing and building global online platforms, Aeugle brings a wealth of expert knowledge with him and will thus play a decisive role in shaping the upcoming growth phase at the provider of the cloud-based accounting software of the same name. ‘I also want to develop new solutions at sevdesk that make everyday life noticeably easier and make you wonder why they weren't developed years ago,’ says Markus Aeugle, describing his sevdesk mission. With his inventive spirit, he has already played a leading role in shaping several successful missions in the past, such as: e-mails for the masses (as early as 1999 at web.de), the cheapest price on the Internet (2003 at billiger.de) or an online booking system for doctor's appointments (2018 at doctolib).
‘Markus Aeugle is our absolute favourite candidate for this position,’ explains Marco Reinbold, Co-Founder and Co-CEO at sevdesk. ‘The decisive factor today is sound technological expertise as the basis for optimising the value of digital solutions. Markus' watchful eye is particularly focussed on ensuring that we pursue the ideal scaling strategy for our medium and long-term business goals.’ With this new appointment, the software company's strategic focus is clearly on the further development of its product portfolio. After all, the need for new technologies and services in the financial sector will continue to grow in the future.
Making the impossible possible
Markus Aeugle is fascinated by developing digital solutions that did not previously exist on the market. Most recently, as Vice President Engineering, he built up Doctolib's German Tech Centre in Berlin - from zero to 150 employees. He was also responsible for product development for the German, French and Italian markets. At the height of the pandemic, he was responsible for keeping the technical strands together for over 3,500 vaccination centres in Berlin and France. He previously held other management positions at tech companies such as Fyber, init AG für digitale Kommunikation, solute GmbH (provider of the billiger.de platform) and web.de AG. His activities have given him in-depth experience in product development, from e-commerce and advertising to public authorities and NPOs, as well as in setting up development hubs around the world. This development work also took him to Silicon Valley for several years.
What brings the top manager to sevdesk? ‘It is extremely important to me to have a diverse, multicultural and international setup in order to maximise creativity and diversity for the products. This is the only way we can develop new, unique solutions that really inspire our customers,’ emphasises Markus Aeugle. ‘I am delighted to be working with the highly talented developers at sevdesk. Together, we will take sevdesk to the next level of technological and organisational development and make it fit for the international markets.‘
An excellent addition to sevdesk
In recent years, Markus Aeugle has specialised in developing an environment for very strong growth - from 250 to 3,000 employees. As a top manager, he already had personnel responsibility for teams with several hundred employees. sevdesk is also aiming to significantly expand its technology division in the coming years. As an experienced innovator, Aeugle will now act internally and externally as an anchor for employees and potential applicants in the tech sector. He has been recognised for his innovations with numerous awards, including the Public Brain Award and the RedDot Solution Innovation Award.
The professional move from Berlin to Offenburg is not difficult for him: as a native of Württemberg and a graduate of KIT in Karlsruhe, he has a lot in common with sevdesk founders Fabian Silberer and Marco Reinbold.
